How can I have waited so long to write about the Festival? International performers in a magical setting - balmy nights and music - what more is there to want? This is 'IT' even for the most avid culture vulture, albeit one on holiday! Dubrovnik has a feel of Venice to it at such times. The Venetian influence is ever present in the music, buildings and atmosphere.
This is now a common site in Dubrovnik - a huge Queen tied up outside the local supermarket. In this picture, its Cunard's Queen Victoria, right alongside, in Gruz, Konsum, Croatia's leading supermarket. We have never been on the Queen, but Konsum is fantastic - everything you need in one place to feed and entertain a family and they speak so many languages in there. Puts the Brits to shame.
What a great place to swim, alongside the mountains, yachts and monasteries! Plus great pizza and meals easily on hand from the restaurant. Its great to swim in the clear waters of the Adriatic, off the Elafiti Islands, but this ACI pool is different.
I always thought the sun sets in the same place every evening - wrong. In October Dubrovnik Villa gets its own beautiful sunsets, whereas in the summer the sun sets over the Elafiti Islands. Another plus for October!
